FAQs

  • Q: Why does the Project Giving Light page looks like it’s collecting for birthday parties?
  • A: Since 2015, Project Giving Light is a public charity that has raised to build and send beautiful birthday boxes to foster kids. For the month of Oct. 2024, they’ve generously offered to divert all funds to support Asheville’s recovery. Non profit info.
  • Q: Is my donation tax deductible?
  • A: Yes, if you donate through Project Giving Light, your donation is tax deductible!
  • Q: Who created this Amazon list of supplies?
  • A: Residents who’ve been digging out of their neighborhoods have been extremely resourceful. Given many residents aren’t expected to have power for 4-6 more months, this list shows supplies needed to get families through fall/winter. As of early Oct., temps are dipping into the low 40s at night. Plenty of other organizations have collected clothes, hygiene supplies, etc. This effort supports more immediate infrastructure needs.
  • Q: Will my donation be tax deductible if I purchase from the Amazon list?
  • A: No. If you’re looking for a tax deductible donation, please donate directly to Project Giving Light. It will appear that you’re donating to birthday boxes, but rest assured,
  • Q: Which address do I select when sending purchases from Amazon?
  • A: If you’re using the Amazon list to send supplies, please choose the option for MissionX – Justin Bernard from your checkout page
  • Q: How else can I help?
  • A: The city is in desperate need of large fuel and water storage tanks. 500-1000 gallon tanks can be placed at locations for families to refill with 5 gallon containers. PLEASE lmk if you have any leads for this type of storage tanks. Also, your help is appreciated in spreading the word!

  • Q: Who are you and why are you doing this?
  • A: I’m a former tech exec with friends in Asheville. I’m helping however I can bc I know they’d do the same for me.
