my client inherited this from a good friend. it’s a gorgeous piece and again, i sort of felt weird painting it.
but i was assured that no one would know since they’re no longer with us. is that weird?
so i worked under the don’t ask, don’t tell guidelines…though i wouldn’t know who to tell.
i used Annie Sloan’s Old Ochre….btw, it’s not pronounced “oh-kra” like the veggie….it’s “oh-ker” like the color. silly me! 🙂
this piece was quite dark and required two coats…and the nooks and crannies were aplenty.
the top part of this hutch has beautiful glass.
and the hardware is lovely. we decided to paint all the hardware, too. we spruced it up with some duck egg and wax later…you’ll see!
ooooh…the Ochre is lovely.
here are the pieces side by side after the first coat. and off to the right peeking out is the dining table that i painted in Paris Grey and Duck Egg.
the hutch’s top hardware is so cool. the knobs remind me of old skeleton keys.
here’s the piece after a very light sanding, details painted in Duck Egg, and two coats of clear wax.
with a few dabs of Duck Egg on the hardware to make it pop a bit, i think this piece is so cozy and cute.
here’s the hutch next to the dining table. isn’t this a lovely new dining room?
have a great rest of your week! i’m off to Philly for my reunions. looking forward to connecting with all my pals!!!!
VERY pretty! You really made this old piece stylish.

Thanks. It definitely looks cute in the beachy house.
