now i’ve done it.
all this blogging about painting free furniture found on curbs or via craigslist curb alerts has created a few monsters within my circle of friends.
so the time had come to bring a few of us together for the next installment of cook. shoot. eat.
this time, we added some paint.
why not?
Peilin had a dining table, which i posted here. i’ve since spoken to her husband, who nonchalantly said “yeah, it’s cool,” which in wife talk means “yay, i get to keep it….and paint more!”
i’ll admit that i was super surprised at the modern look we achieved with Annie Sloan paints! with 3 coats of wax, and lots of buffing, the piece shines!!!
Jessica found another ridiculously cute girls’ headboard in her neighbor’s trash…that’s Newport Beach for ya. so we painted it in ASCP Antoinette with a Pure White detail in the trim.
she’s since found a queen sized, ultra-cool mid century bed in the trash. the ENTIRE bed…headboard, footboard, railings, and all hardware. really? yes, really. i refuse to paint it. it’s too gorgeous. you just don’t find pieces like that anymore…esp for FREE!
the kids even got in on the action with some Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in Kitchen Scale. i’m still retouching their ‘work.’ will post when all is final.
i nearly fainted when Big A took his blue paintbrush to Peilin’s already painted dining table. eeeeeeesh….. “i helping mamma!”
but who can be mad at this guy? look at his little face!
and look at this food…i mean, really. in between paint strokes, Peilin would rush into the kitchen to prep this “Oh, this is something I just threw together” meal.
homemade hummus atop toast, with olives, fresh greens, tomatoes, bell peppers, capers, sardines, avocado, and a fried egg.
i’m not a sardine fan…and i’m allergic to avocado, but the rest was scrumdilly-delicious!
i even made my own orange-infused water with the last of the fresh oranges from the tree.
but Peilin didn’t end there…she busted out some roasted peaches sauteed in butter in my tiny iron skillet. so cute!
so if you know what’s good for you, stop reading my blog….because you’ll become curious about Annie Sloan Chalk Paints…and before you know it, you’ll be in front of a group of recovering furniture painters saying “Hi, I’m Julie, and I’m addicted to Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.”
…or perhaps you can just swing by my place….i’m always up for some fun painting projects!
have a GREAT week!
