if you don’t get this post’s title, you’re too young. i’ve just started and already i’ve digressed.
anyway, you’ve seen these bar stools, right?
these maple-ish wood bar stools were hip 10 years ago, but you’ve still got them laying around. they’re sturdy and make for a perfect soccer goal backstop.
with a little elbow grease and some chalk paint, you can breathe new life into these lovelies.
i started with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Duck Egg. it’s a dreamy sea foam greenish color. or maybe it’s the color of a duck egg, but i’ve never seen a duck’s egg, so i can’t vouch. (are they really green?)
then you use a very water Pure White wash. on these chairs, i went with the grain of the wood and then dabbed with an old t-shirt to blot off some of the paint.
then you sand to allow the dark wood color to peek through. these bar stools will be getting sat upon quite a bit, so more of the paint will continue to naturally rub off.
then 2 coats of ASCP clear wax all over, making sure you let the wax cure in between coats.
and there you’ve got it. brand new chairs. stay tuned for the pix once they’re staged in their new home! 🙂
