snowball recipe :: Mulhall family style

here’s a fun recipe for the kids.

we have a sick little dude at home today, so it was time to bust out the snowballs!

this recipe is from my high school buddy, Johnny Mulhall, who fondly remembers these as his favorite dessert growing up.

these cookies are also known as Italian cookies, Russian tea cakes, or Mexican wedding cookies; it’s no wonder every culture has a version of these.short bread snowball cookie close-up

and hard to resist.

  • 2  cups flour
  • 1  cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2  cup chopped pecans
  • 1  cup butter (1/2 pound), creamed
  • 1  tsp vanilla
  • 1  Tb warm water

make into balls (about the size of a jawbreaker candy). place on a cool cookie sheet a few inches apart; they don’t spread out.  bake at pre-heated 325 degree oven for 12-15 minutes until they turn light brown.

let cool.

roll in powdered sugar or sift powdered sugar over top of cookies.
