here’s a fun recipe for the kids.
we have a sick little dude at home today, so it was time to bust out the snowballs!
this recipe is from my high school buddy, Johnny Mulhall, who fondly remembers these as his favorite dessert growing up.
he’s the author of Geddy’s Moon if you’re looking for something really scary and intellectually spooky to read during your holiday down time.
his book is as scary as and addicting as these delicious cookies. look at these little guys lined up like soldiers!
these cookies are also known as Italian cookies, Russian tea cakes, or Mexican wedding cookies; it’s no wonder every culture has a version of these.
they’re scrumptious.
and messy,
and melt-in-your-mouth-good,
and hard to resist.
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup butter (1/2 pound), creamed
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 Tb warm water
make into balls (about the size of a jawbreaker candy). place on a cool cookie sheet a few inches apart; they don’t spread out. bake at pre-heated 325 degree oven for 12-15 minutes until they turn light brown.
let cool.
roll in powdered sugar or sift powdered sugar over top of cookies.
enjoy!
